I slugged my barrel and experienced the slug dropped after 6 or 7
inches down the bore from the muzzle. Is this common? The slug I
used was .317

Better results came from slugging from breech!! Much better!

I had asked around and gotten lots of 'huhs?'. Wasn't sure how to address it. Thanks for posting what went wrong! You had us stumped. I'm not that technical on shooting. 99 features, now that's my area. Trey

Rifle barrels usually are far more accurate if the bore gets slightly tighter as you get near the muzzle. If you started your slug at the muzzle and it got looser a few inches in you might have a very good shooter.
